I ran across this pattern on Ravelry. I am thinking that these would be great gifts for my sister and nieces. I bought some 'wool-ease' at Jo-ann's for my coffee mug sleeves..I'm thinking of..re-thinking my mug sleeve idea..this hot coffee feels so freakin' good on my cold hands! I like this idea better. I can't decide if I want to put a thumb-hole in or not we'll see. I am knitting these while watching the 'Alexander The Great' series on my very-much-loved-streamed-in-Net flix.

Wednesday nights are our stay-at-the-yarn shoppe-till-Pat-kicks-us-out-night. I think of Pat's shoppe as the 'Red Tent'. Tonight was a happy-night. I walked in on freshly-homemade cinnamon rolls (just screaming my starving little tummy's name) One chick's granddaughter was born this morning..she brought champagne (which we, happily poured along with the wine we were drinking..), Alla made us a great Sweet Potatoe Pie (thank you for breakfast ), and then my adorable Garima walks in wanting to finish her first project...and I get teased that I don't knit there..who was taking all these awsome pics?.....Yea...so there.....Everyone's fabuloooosooo cfreations are in a special photo album in face book.

Tonight Garima came with her, already-I-kid-you-not-almost-finished basket weave scarf..her first! She is a freakin' genius! Alla is still teaching..awesome teacher. She says Garima is her *star* pupil. I was so glad to see Diane. She might be going back to her yes-I'm-jelly pool in Florida. Need a girly-date before.

After reading my two blogs Bry walked in the door with steaks to throw on the grill and one of my Christmas presents. It's the new Stephen King 'The Dome'. He said that I needed to stop my brain for a while. So not right for the knitting fairies!..I am going to be useless. Opening my new Stephen King is something that I do Christmas night....I step into that world and I am not heard from till the very last sylable is read. What am I going to do? The Holidays start next week? I....have.....no......restraint.....no will power......I'll be good..I can do this..really I can. I am a grown woman who knows her resp....one chapter...come on just a teeney-weeney chapter..............................

Bry says the double fingered-fingerless gloves should be for Long Horn Fans..then something about the color not being right. Anyway here is the pouted-through coffee sleeve. I love brown and bliue together so the colors where a natural choice. I haven't done the twisted ribbibg pattern before so I got to learn something new.

I finished the first one. I put it on before binding off..TWO THUMB HOLES! Or maybe my pinky needs it's own freakin' space. I don't get it. I need help. It's a bit small, also. I am going to frog this or give it a sweet little girl..Teigers are your hands a bit cold sweety? AAARRRRGGGGGGGG!

I need to re-charge. I think I am going to knit some of these coffee sleeves up. My Ravelry page on this is here. I need to find six needles since I don't use dpn's. #9's are not easy to find. They say '9' but measure pretty tight. Now in search of scrap wool.

Now let's see what I can do with these......

Hand/Wrist Warmers

I have decided on knitting some of these up. The pattern is in my 'Last Minute Knitted Gifts' book, page 66. Here is the pattern on Ravelry. I am using Sublime cashmere merino silk dk shade 0006 (basically a steel-cashmere-ish color). I have a bunch of this yarn, since the sweater I was knitting Bry was coming out way too wide. I love the feel of this yarn and I think the twists will show up great. Here is my write-up in my Ravelry projects

I am knitting.....a bit. I am sewing, also. It has been a busy freakin' summer ('Like it hasn't been for the rest of us!', I hear from the Peanut Gallery). I am knitting (from Alla's prodding) the Japanese Feather Stole with 'hazel knits' artisan sock yarn color 223 (blues and grays). I am, also, knitting this fun button up scarf I saw at the Portland Sock Summit. I have been sooo bad by not seeing my chicks..especially the Queen herself....Pat. I need to just pick up my needles and go.....

Yarn Harlot Night

Pat gave me a backstage pass to meet Stephanie (Yarn Harlot) before the talk. Thank you Pat. I grabbed Alla to be my date. Suna was to join us on the third floor. Yes, I have an absolutly goofy grin going on here. Push me and you know I know how to crop these things. There are more photos in my facebook albums.
Here is Alla, Suna, Stephanie and myself. If you look close enough you shall notice a pair of circulars around my neck.

I met Fanny tonight. I fell in love with her scarf. I have 'friended' her on Ravelry and follow her blog. She seems so fun and interesting. She lives where we keep our plane so I might have an excuse to run into her. Alla..tell me the name of this pattern again.

Stepanie's talk was fantastic. I don't call her the Erma-Bombeck-of-the-knitting-world for nothing.....she earns it.

I already have this towel hanging in my kitchen. I love the color (ecru). I chain-stitched 'KITCHEN' in the corner. I did'nt think it would be noticed, but the first time Bry looked at it he said, 'Kitchen. Cool'. Hey I'm happy.

I am knitting up Donnie a few summer beanies..all cotton (debbie bliss). This is the first one. The others will be in the blue and black you see in the stripes.

For my birthday my mom bought me the Mason Dixon Knitting book. In love with the mitered hanging towel pattern. I am thinking this would be excellent to give along with my home-made cleaner. Also in love with the swifty. These are so going to be Christmas gifts. I went to the peaches and creme specials section and ordered two mason dixon pre pack 2008 kits. Sooo looking forward to getting Christmas presents out of the way!

Noppanunt's London Beanie

Noppanunt is going to live in Thailand .We will miss him. Bry will get to see him when he goes to Asia. We have known him since our CMU years. He is always bringing me back precious gifts from home. I think he might like a beanie. ...or two....we'll see. We gave him a send-off dinner and now he is going to make us dinner next Saturday. I have grounded myself from sewing until I finish this. I made Donnie these for his last birthday.

Bry and I went to La Jolla. While he was at the conferance I knit myself a beany in front of the fireplace. I found a knit store called 'Knitting in La Jolla'. I fell in love with a yarn called 'Ty-Dy'. The girl there printed me out a beaney pattern called 'Sant-Cruz' from magknits. I love this pattern ..it is sooo summer. I made the first one on size 10 circulars..a bit loose..but still love. The second one (on #8 circulars) I knit on the plane back home to give to Adi for my Ayala. Kymie and I are knitting up a few with sock yarn on #2's. She has started hers and loves how it looks. I will bug her for pics. I am sure you noticed the pen..I will use anything I can find..I needed double-pointed needles and the yarn store was closed.

Shawl/Poncho

O.K. There's a perfectly good reason for this. We had just worked out, I was dieing to start this project, I am tired of going to bed with my wet hair sticking to my back....need I write more?
I am knitting the Union Square Shawl/Poncho from 'Weekend Knitting'. Yarn- Nora (cash Iroha...whatever that means...let's say brown), needle- 29"/#9 circular.
I will be learning the baby-cable-ribbing-stitch Fingers crossed...hey maybe that's my problem.
I almost decided not to knit this poncho..I've been reading that ponchos are 'so-last-year, but I talked with my 'chicks' and they convinced me this one was classic and didn't have fringes hanging off it. They said I could pull it off....let's hope so....cause here I go.......

A Mish-Mash of Projects

I saw Judy Saturday. She scolded me for not putting anything on this blog for a while...Judy scolds...Cindy ...fixes. Here is a bit of what I have been up to. The needles were made from chop sticks. I always carry my passport holder on plane trips. I loved this One-Skein -Wonder...a bit too short. I'm working on another. This last picture is for Kymie. I ironed (stupidly) my cables...this was my fix. I grabbed and crammed what wasn't moving.

Justin's Birthday is this Friday (Oct. 27). I am in a mad frenzy to finish this cashmere, cabled scarf. It is done with Misti Alpaca chunky (brown). On size 11 needles. I am using Pat's recipe. Wish me luck.

My finished 'back pack'

O.k...so it's no longer a back-pack. I made a few adjustments. I put my washer on 'sanitize' and went to bed. My poor knitting was tortured in that washer in lava hot water for 2 hours. When I pulled my victim out of the wreckage in the morning...(yes I slept soundly...the screams were muffled with the suds) I had a Christmas-tree-size -wadded-up-hand-full-o-felt. We now have a purse...Which I am pretty fond of...I must say. I put this pocket in the front to hold my cell-phone.

I spent all Saturday at the Bluebonnet Shoppe. Knitting my Peek's Party Dress. Truth be told...yapping...loosing my place...using Sherry as my bookmark...and yapping even more. Believe it or not I was actually making progress on the dress (thank you Sherry).
Jody ( my fellow Zena admirer) thought that it was time that I learn to knit lace with a proper pattern and markers. Sherry counted my stiches...151...was supposed to be...144...We managed to work through that tiny-bit-o-flaw. Then Jody got a hold of the dress (making sure I was really 11 sts off). Jody, then looks up...slowly...and announces that I have a mobias. I don't register at first. Pat's eyes get a bit wider than the norm...Then I know!
Pat gently takes the, now embarrassed, dress to the back. Pat is gone a while. I am, then, handed over a gorgeously wound ball of Light Rose yarn.....Enough said.
Jody sat down and took the time to write me out a chart for my lace. My lace work was 'off' anyway...more like a Picasso of lace.
Oh well, it's not like Peek is shivering in the cold waiting for this partying-dress-o-wool.
I'm watching a scary movie tonight!!!...With cherry-breath!!!!!!!!

I am leaving for Pittsburgh on the 3rd of May. I'll be back on the 15th. We are going to scoot on over to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival on the 6th and 7th. Since I missed my Chicks this last Wednesday...I'm going to be going through withdrawels by the time I get back. Last time I didn't go in a few weeks I wouldn't shut-up the whole time I was there.
Kymie says we have to be at the M S&W fest. at the crack-of-stupid to get some cool tote. I've never been to one of these. It sounds fascinating. I'll be keeping this blog going with our frenzied summer knitting and festival sites. Grab on..it can't be boring.

Peek's Party Dress..I Think I'm Getting It Down

I snuck knitting into puppy-training this past three days. I finished the 'bell ruffle'. I am into the body with the lace.
